Today FERC is more a development and training consultant than an engineering company. We conduct scientific studies and assessments on e.g. the status of environment. For example, we have studied impacts of climate change on mountain glaciers and water resources. In this work we used satellite images and hydrological models. We may also assess the environmental problems caused by a hydropower plant, holiday resort, mining, etc. and find solutions to mitigate the negative impacts. We may also promote the use of best available techniques to be used in industries, wastewater treatment, irrigation, etc.
